Technical Editor - Data Management


JOB SUMMARY
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES Under limited supervision, performs work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character on one or more specialty areas of data management or engineering data.

  • Designs, develops and establishes data management documentation based on program requirements.

  • Reviews and makes recommendations on contractor engineering data. Identifies requirements and coordinates development and implementation of computer based data management systems and electronic data support.

  • Performs other related duties and assignments as directed.

  • Must understand and comprehend the rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation

  • Ability to use Microsoft Access databases is required. Ability to follow along and take meeting minutes is a plus

  • A working knowledge of Livelink (Content Suite 16) and associated workflows is desirable, but not required

  • May provide work direction to subordinate work unit personnel.

  • Must be familiar with standard editing marks and be able to follow editing guidelines as dictated by the Government Printing Office (GPO) Style Manual and the Chicago Manual of Style. Must work well with others and have effective communication skills, both written and verbally.

  • Following proper formatting guidelines is a must, and document consistency is vital in producing a quality product. Must maintain electronic document library for easy access and retrieval of information.

  • Responsible for editing documentation for submission to the customer. Documents to edit could include an Engineering Word file or a PowerPoint briefing file, among others. Must be detail oriented and able to spot discrepancies in documentation. Must interface with the author to rectify discrepancies. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job.
    WORKING CONDITIONS
    Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness. Travel to remote working locations may be required.
    REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, or a related field or a combination of formal training and equivalent experience. Possess 3 years directly related DM experience. Must have good verbal and written communication skills and be proficient in computer operations, word processing and integrated software applications, including electronic data management systems (EDMS). Must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Must qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and possess a valid, state issued driver's license. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
